TN Insurance-Renters Insurance Coverage

Renter's Insurance in TN will provide the protection needed, whether you rent an apartment, a condo, or a house.  Renter's Insurance also insures your personal property.

A Renters Insurance Policy (or tenants insurance) policy includes protection against several types of renters losses.

CONTENTS - PERSONAL PROPERTY

"Replacement Cost" or "Actual Cash Value" coverage is available to protect you against the loss of your personal belongings, such as, furniture, clothing, appliances, etc.

Replacement Cost Coverage - This type of coverage provides you with the necessary funds to replace your personal property at today's costs, as it was at the time of an insured peril.  Replacement cost coverage does not depreciate the value of your property.

Actual Cash Value Coverage - This type of coverage provides you with the necessary funds to replace your personal property at it's depreciated value.

LOSS OF USE COVERAGE

In the event you could not live in your home or apartment after an insured peril occurs, the policy offers payment for temporary living quarters while you are waiting for repair work to be completed.  (This benefit is not included in all renter's policies.)

MEDICAL PAYMENTS

Another coverage which may be included is for bodily injury medical payments to a non-policy holder.  Medical payments can be made to others (those not in your immediate family) up to the stated limit amount.  This will often prevent going to court to see whose "fault" it was.  The amount paid will cover many minor accidents regardless of who was responsible.

PERSONAL LIABILITY

A renters insurance policy can provide coverage for bodily injury or property damage claims for which you are legally responsible.  This normally excludes auto and business related claims.  Coverage is available up to the stated liability limit for each accident.  Examples could be:  Your dog bites a neighbor; Your child breaks someone else's window with a baseball; or Someone is injured on your premises.
